These Are the Ways Women Are Wearing Short Skirts This Fall

As it’s now fall, we’ve got to start thinking about not only the beautiful outfits we are going to wear, but how we’re going to start wrapping up a little bit more. The best outfit choices are always in the summer when the sun is out and you don’t have to wear big coats and scarves (although, that’s probably my favourite thing to wear when it’s cold.) However, the best thing about being between the really cold months and the hot ones is that you can mix and match the things you wear in both seasons and create lots of lovely outfits and looks. Short skirts are so popular in the summer, but long skirts are more popular during winter which means when fall comes, women wear skirts in all different types of ways.

It’s pretty hard to get to grips with what goes (in terms of outfits) and what doesn’t. Sometimes it’s extremely helpful to just see what other people are wearing and either copy or tweak their outfits so you can wear it yourself. There’s nothing wrong with using other people’s outfit ideas and wearing them. After all, if no one did that then we wouldn’t have fashion trends, would we? From knitted jumpers to rustic orange skirts, there is something for all women to enjoy wearing over the next few months with the fall weather! Fall is such a good season to dress up, feel great whilst also being able to show off your figure.

Skater Skirts

They’re short, above the knee skirts with a flowy style. Normally they’re worn during the summer months with t-shirts or crop tops as they’re made from light materials that are nice to wear when it’s hot. Many women choose to wear them on the warmer fall days and even sometimes winter. The good thing about skater skirts is that they can look casual but if you pair them with some nice heeled boots in the fall, they can look sophisticated too. Fall is such a good season to wear skater skirt outfits; with tights, a jumper and maybe a scarf if it’s a little chilly. Pairing it with dark tights is good as it creates more of a colder outfit which means you look ready to conquer the cold days. Most women tend to go for darker coloured skater skirts in fall with colors like maroon, black, dark grey and navy being the popular favourite amongst them.

You may also want to pair the skirt with a checked shirt, these are so in this season and everyone in the fashion industry is wearing them which means you’ll definitely be down the with the times! The picture to the left shows a lady rocking a black skater skirt, with black tights and boots. She has then matched it with a red checked shirt for a pop of colour. Her outfit is nicely finished with a black vintage fedora, a fall must if you’re travelling and want to look on point on your Instagram feed.

Pencil Skirts

If you want to rock your fall outfits with more of a smart twist then your best bet for skirts is a pencil skirt. They’re well known for office wear and if you’ve got a job interview in the fall season then this should definitely be your go to. You can dress down a pencil skirt with some flats though, just as similar as you can dress it up with some heels or boots. During the fall and whilst using it as office wear a lot of women tend to go for more neutral and dark colors as they’re easily paired with shirts, tops, and other accessories. A light blouse, such as a white or pink color is probably your best bet when it comes to picking out outfit choices.

Just like the women in the picture (on the right) you might want to rock some nude heels and a black and nude bag with it too. Her outfit definitely shouts a gorgeous office queen, but like stated earlier you can dress pencil skirts down too. Relatively speaking they’re not short skirts, they’re long so if you want to look summery in the fall then this skirt probably isn’t for you.

A-Line Skirts

Fall is the perfect season to rock an A-line skirt, you know why? They’re just so trendy and warm you cannot go wrong. There is no need to look any further if you want the perfect skirt that says classy, elegant with bursts of style because it’s this skirt you’re looking for. A lot of fall skirts are natural, neutral shades but I always find you can wear any coloured A-line skirt and it will look amazing. They come as short skirts but also long too, it really depends on the occasion and what you want the skirt for. Normally they are long, and to the ankle. These are the sorts of skirts you want to be wearing during those days in the fall when you want to look fabulous. A-line skirts somehow have the power to change your mentality and allow you to think you can conquer everything when you’ve got one on.

This woman has paired her grey ankle-length A-line skirt with a beige tight jumper, she’d then tucked it into the skirt which really helps to extenuate her figure. The fedora, boots and brown handbag really just finish this fall look off completely, doesn’t she look super trendy? I love it!

Pleated Skirts

Short skirts can also be pleated which can look amazing, they look really trendy and go with virtually anything. One of the most popular outfit combinations is a pleated short skirt and an oversized denim jacket with a plain t-shirt, they look amazing! They mostly are sold in block colors although sometimes stores and retailers might do patterns too which can really spice up your regular look. Fall is all about simple though so if you want my advice, it would be to stick with the darker, more fall looking colors.

The picture on the right shows a young woman rocking a pleated short skirt to her advantage. She has used a short-pleated skirt and mixed up the colors a bit as it is still fall and you don’t want to be wearing black all the time (just yet, leave that to winter!)

Don’t be afraid to rock a good skirt, they always look fabulous and if you know how good you look when wearing a skirt then you’ll feel a lot more confident too which is always an amazing vibe to give off.
